Muyami Academy

Somewhere in a hilly suburb of Tokyo (no I don't have a clue exactly where) lies Muyami Academy, a private boarding co-ed boarding school. Originally founded by two Jesuit Priests as a Catholic school, Muyami Academy in recent years has been an exclusive, private secular school which prides itself on producing students who qualify for the best colleges in the country. Within the last few years it has also developed an odd reputation as a magnet for paranomal activity, and a haven for students with unusual powers. For this reason, Mishima Heavy Industries recently purchased the school and hired one of Japan's most renown scientists to be Principal of the school and Head of the School Board. Their goal is to attract other students with unusual gifts or abilities, and to study them all in depth, with the ultimate goal of using what they learn in the development of military weapons. The Principal, however, has his own plans, as do the individual students....

The Faculty

Principal Gendo Ikari (Evangelion) . The School's Principal is a well-regarded scientist in his thirties. In my universe he may never have to face a third impact, but there's enough going on at this small school to keep him quite busy. He's fascinated with the occult and predictions of a coming age of darkness, and obsessed with creating several teams of operatives able to deal with demonic and other-worldly threats.

and also Washu-Chan (No Need for Tenchi) Although the greatest scientist in the universe has not yet appeared, she will eventually become a science teacher at the school. At the moment she's still trapped in crystal on the Souja.
Fujisawa-Sensei [El Hazard] Although I have yet to use him, Fujisawa is around here somewhere. How could he not be?
and also Hinako-Sensei [Ranma 1/2] Miss Hinako is the homeroom teacher for Ranma, Akane, Yohko, and most of the main cast.
Kyuusaku Natsume-Sensei [Nuku-Nuku] The science teacher (until Washu shows up at least), he has a hidden laboratory funded by Mishima Heavy Industries and does a lot of experiments for the Principal. Naturally, he also is the creator of Nuku Nuku.
and also Kikikyo Natsume [Nuku-Nuku] As in the original OVA, Kikikyo is the head of Mishima Heavy Industries.
Happosai [Ranma 1/2] Happy is a janitor at the school. In my continuity he was married to Cologne, so he's not as out of control as in the anime/manga.
and also Many Others I have a lot of others that need to be listed here, who I've used or am considering using. Chief of Police Ido. Godai. Kouchou Kuno. Cologne. Nurse Sakura. Tofu-Sensei. Kagato. Grandpa Masaki. Sasami.

GP Officer Mihoshi (No Need for Tenchi) . The Galaxy Police are going to place agents at the school soon, including the daughter of the head of the GP. Mihoshi is someone who clearly recieved an extra helping of luck in lieu of any intelligence... she always seems comes out on top, through no fault of her own.

rooms with GP Officer Kiyoni (No Need for Tenchi) Mihoshi's partner in the Galaxy Police, a woman who takes her job seriously, but has the worst luck (and the worst partner) in the galaxy.
GP Officer Birdy (Birdy the Mighty) . In my continuity Birdy also works for the Galaxy Police. She's a reckless and impetuous agent, a tenacious and talented fighter, and she might just get someone killed by accident, as she does in the original show.

rooms with GP Officer "Operative 9" (No Need for Tenchi) Birdy's partner. His real name is Trakal, but he prefers to be called Operative 9. He's not quite the hotshot that he was in Tenchi Muyou In Love. In fact, he's just an ordinary GP officer with delusions of granduer... a street cop who imagines he's James Bond. Not surprisingly, he's as dangerously reckless as Birdy herself, and not half as talented.

Girl's Dorm

Belldandy (Ah! Megamisama) Belldandy is registered as a Senior (12th grade) at the Academy, having transfered to the school near the end of last year, although finding records of where she spent her 1st through 11th grades might be difficult to come by. It is well known that she and Keichi Morosato are an item, and she is around him much of the time. However, she is also the girl's dorm president, since everyone can't help but like her and trust her. She loves to cook and clean, especially for Tenchi of course, but loves to help out the girls that are under her care as well. She's just like the Belldandy in the manga and anime... and her sisters do drop by on occasion, not to mention Mara.
rooms with Madoka Ayukawa (Kimagure Orange Road) The hot-tempered, ultra-cool furyoo (juvenile delinquint) from KOR is Belldandy's current roommate. She's in 11th grade, is known to be Kyosuka's girlfriend, and is more of an enforcer than a confidant in the dorm. I don't really have plans to use the character too much, just as a background character.
Ranma Saotome (Ranma 1/2) The hero(ine) of the story. Ranma is the son of Genma and Nodoka Saotome, a superb martial artist who, when he was five, left with his father on a "training trip" that lasted ten years. While in China, they visited Jusenkyo, the "legendary training ground of accursed springs", and each fell into a cursed pool. Now, when splashed with cold water, Ranma turns into a girl. Hot water turns him back.
Ranma is stubborn and egotistical, and will do anything to win a fight... the "refuse to lose" motto never had a more ardent supporter. He is a living embodiment of the "macho" ethic, having been raised by his father, a true sexist and all around cowardly jerk. Ranma is also very bad at interpersonal relationships and does not often consider the feelings of others. He often speaks before he thinks.
That said, the Ranma in this story is not as extreme. I've knocked a lot of the sharp edges off of him, reducing his all-around jerkiness, his fear of his female half, and his need to always be "A Man". In my story, Ranma's father never signed the "man among men" agreement with his mother, so Ranma meets her on his return to Tokyo. Another difference is that, when younger, Ranma managed to wait four days for his childhood fight with Ryoga, so Ryoga does not hate Ranma any more and did not have any reason to follow him to China. A third difference is that Ranma and his father never encountered the Joketzu amazon village, so they have no prior history with Shampoo or Cologne. As for the rest, including the arranged marriage to Ukyo... well, you'll just have to wait and see.
Ranma is sent of to Muyami Academy, a private school. Through no fault of his own, he winds up attending as a female student....
rooms with Noel Minamino (Mint na Bokura) Uknown to Ranma, his/her roommate is also a boy... one who doesn't transform into a girl, but just dresses like one. Noel's twin sister Maria has transferred to Muyami Academy because of a basketball coach whom she has a schoolgirl crush on (she thinks she's in love). Noel has a sister complex, and is a bit immature, so he transfers to Muyami Academy himself with the intention of breaking up his sister's romance and getting her to come back home.
Unfortunately, Noel transfers late, and there are no rooms left in the boy's dorm. The school's administrator allows him to transfer, as long as he pretends to be Maria's twin sister....
Akane Tendo (Ranma 1/2) The youngest daughter of Soun Tendo, who is Genma Saotome's best friend (the two trained together under their master, Happosai). Akane was the best girl martial artist at her old school, but she's not really in the league of a Ranma or even a Shampoo. She's very quick to anger and gets destructive when angry, and she jumps to conclusions a lot. She is not always graceful, nor is she a good cook... in fact, she sucks at most of the "feminine arts". But she has a great deal of compassion for others, when she's not angry at them, and thus she can be a really good friend.
In our story, Akane is engaged to Ranma, but sees Ranma more as a girl than a guy. She considers Ranma a friend, but not a romantic interest, and is actively plotting to get out of the engagement.
rooms with Nanami Jinnai (El Hazard) Nanami is an entrepenuer, first and foremost. She's an investigative reporter for the school paper, and cooks and sells food (sandwiches, soup, hot tea) on the side. She's interested in Makato Shizuhara, but he hasn't noticed this yet.
Yohko Mano (Mamano Hunter Yohko) Sophomore. She really is the 108th generation mamono hunter, as she reveals to Ranma and Kagome. Yohko is an athletic girl who has been trained by her grandmother to be an extremely gifted fighter. She constantly thinks of boys and wishes to have a boyfriend, something her mother strongly encourages, and which her grandmother now also approves of. Unfortunately, the boys she has interest in usually turn out to be possessed by demons or something, so she hasn't had much luck finding a steady boyfriend.
Yohko transforms into her mamono hunter personal using the Yoma ring given her by her grandmother. The transformation involves all of her clothes being ripped off as she spins about, then a red silk Chinese-style dress forming, with a yin-yang symbol on her chest. The ring itself has a sort of dragon head on it, with two long spurs that curl about her wrist. It's worn on the left hand, and is the source of her power, generating powerful blasts and healing power as well. Yohko's braided hoop hairstyle is kept up by hair ornaments made from a magic stone called Shimi-Seki which focuses and increases her inner powers. These hair clips also alert Yohko of forthcoming danger. Together with the ring, Yohko can project a sort of psi-web at a demon to keep it from moving.
Yohko's main weapon, however, is her Soulsword which she calls to her almost everytime as soon as she transforms. This is a two-piece sword where the long blade can be detached from the handle. The handle has its own curved blade which can be used for times when Yohko needs to 'hack and slash.' If seperated from her, Yohko can call for the sword to come back by itself.
rooms with Maria Minamino (Mint na Bokura) Maria transfered to Muyami Academy because she thought she was in love with the coach of the girl's team. She plays basketball herself, and is very good. She's embarassed by the actions of her twin brother, but also loves him and helps him out in his disguise. She's worried that he's going to ruin her life, however.
Maria has a more pleasant personality than Noel, and nearly always wears her hair in one or two ponytails, which helps to distiguish the two.
Atsuko (Nuku Nuku) Natsume (Super Cat Girl Nuku Nuku) The only reason Nuku Nuku is attending school is that it happens to be where Papa-san (Natsume Kyuusaku) works, and it's not far from where Ryuunosuke Natsume, her younger brother whom she protects, attends grade school. Nuku Nuku is a cyborg, an artificially-constructed being with the brain of a cat. As such, she's very strong and not terribly bright, and is prone to chasing mice. Nuku Nuku is almost always in a good mood and rarely things badly of anyone. She's a phenomenal athelete, one of the school's very best, and can probably beat anyone in a fight regardless of her lack of martial arts training.
rooms with Lum (Ursei Yatsura) Lum is attending school because she wants to remain near Ataru. Technically, she considers Ataru her husband (she calls him "darling") and would prefer to live with him. She's constantly sneaking into his room and trying to sleep in his bed with him. As for school... Lum doesn't really understand or care to understand most of what's going on in class; she's just there because Ataru is there, and because it helps to appear normal. She's usually in a good mood, and gets along with Nuku Nuku exceptionally well.
Nabiki Tendo (Ranma 1/2) Nabiki has attended school at Muyami Academy for a year and is now in the 11th grade. She's the sort who loves to play with people's minds to amuse herself, and has a million schemes to make quick money, which she spends on herself. Contrairy to common fanfiction cliches, she is not a monetary genius, and is actually quite lazy -- as she is in the manga/anime.
rooms with Ayeka (Tenchi Muyou) Ayeka is a princess of the planet Jurai, and as such she can be a real snob, very stuck up. She is usually not a very active girl, does not know how to cook or do many of the things expected of a Japanese wife, but after all, she's a princess. She can be quite gentle and ladylike at times. As part of the royal bloodline of Jurai, she has access to the power of Jurai and can actually be a quite formidable foe in battle, with the ability to transform into Juraian battle dress. She's fallen in love with Tenchi, which is one of the things that keeps her here on Earth. She has an abiding hatred of and a running fued with Ryoko.
Ryoko (Tenchi Muyou) Ryoko was created by Washu. She's been a space pirate and has been labelled a demon, but she is also a girl with a normal girl's emotions, and has fallen in love with Tenchi. She never acts like a lady -- she's agressive, uninhibited, scheming, manipulative, and very hostile to Ayeka. She doesn't have a lot of endearing qualities, and doesn't really care what others thing about her, aside from Tenchi, of course. She is, in many ways, a typical school bully, a girl who is all attitude, who puts up a tough front. She can fly, can phase through solid objects, and has a great deal of energy at her disposal to blast others with or to form energy swords with.
rooms with Ifurita (El Hazard) This is the Ifurita of the original OAV, rather than the 1st season television Ifurita. Unlike her counterpart, however, our Ifurita is not locked up in the basement waiting for the day she awakens and sends Makato to El Hazard. Ifurita is attending school as a student, and has apparently been awake for at least a month, perhaps a year or more. She may still be looking for Makato, who has not yet ever heard of El Hazard (i.e., this could be a future plot of my story!). Perhaps she does not yet remember why she is here, or what her purpose is. For the time being she is quiet and withdrawn, aloof, introspective, and without friends.
Shampoo (Ranma 1/2) Unlike the anime/manga original version Shampoo, my Shampoo has never met or fought Ranma Saotome before the story starts, and will probably not be giving anyone the kiss of death. She's attending the school largely because her great grandmother Cologne has been invited to teach at the school, and Cologne thought it would be a good experience for Shampoo and Mousse to study in Japan while she's teaching there. Cologne understands that, given the circumstances, some amazon laws should not be applied -- such as the kiss of death. However, if Shampoo is defeated by a male she may well decide that they are destined to be wed, per amazon law. Shampoo is an exceptional fighter, the best young warrior in her village, but she quickly learns that the competition at Muyami Academy is much stiffer. She speaks broken Japanese in a very cute voice, is exceedingly strong (often walking through walls rather than using the door), and rides a bicycle around the campus. Her great grandmother Cologne has also set up a ramen shop in the school's caffeteria/food court, and Shampoo delivers ramen to the dorms in her usual fashion.
rooms with Shinobu Miyake (Ursei Yatsura) Shinobu is the former girlfriend of Ataru Moroboshi. Since Lum has arrived, she's been having second thoughts about her relationship with the lecherous boy (and third thoughts, and fourth thoughts, and...). Although she's followed him here to Muyami Academy, she's ready to break off the relationship and find someone new. Shinobu is a typical Japanese girl high school student, but when angry her strength knows no limits (literally!).
Utena Tenjou (Revolutionary Girl Utena) In her own anime, Utena dresses in a boy's uniform (just the top, with shorts) because she "wants to be a prince". This does not mean she wants to be a boy -- she makes that abundantly clear -- but it does mean she wants to be the person of action, rather than the princess waiting to be rescued. Revolutionary Girl Utena is highly symbolic and has a lot of mysterious events going on, including the duels in the forbidden forest and the floating castle... but the Utena in my story doesn't have to deal with that. She's an exceptional athelete, good at basketball, talented as a swordswoman, and not afraid of anyone, willing to stick up for her friends and fight for what is right. She has only just met Anthy, but the strange girl with the dark hair has already attached herself to Utena. There are no secret duels going on at Muyami Academy, unless I change my mind....
rooms with Anthy Himeya (Revolutionary Girl Utena) My Anthy is very much like the anime version, but she's not bound to whoever wins the duel because there aren't any such duels, she doesn't have swords that come out of her chest, and she doesn't get slapped around nearly so much as in the anime. She's shy, very feminine, devoted to Utena-sama, cooks for her and keeps their room spotless, tends to the roses on campus and has a week spot for animals of all sorts, is soft-spoken, and is a talented pianist. In many ways she is the embodiment of the princess waiting to be rescued -- the counterpart to Utena's prince persona. I haven't decided if she has a pet mouse or not. ^_^
Chigako Ogawa (Devil Hunter Yohko) Yohko's best friend and business manager, a girl who has a lot of irons in the fire, most of them related to Yohko's Devil Hunter "business".
rooms with Hikaru Shidou (Magic Knights Rayearth) Hikaru is a cute young girl who has never travelled to another dimension to fight evil.
Hitomi Kanzaki (Vision of Escaflowne) Hitomi is a young girl who loves track and can tell fortunes. She can also dowse with the pendant that her grandmother gave her, and she's never travelled to another dimension to fight evil.
rooms with Miaka Yuuki (Fushugi Yugi) Miaka is a young girl struggling to do well in school and to control her ravenous appetite. She's never travelled to another dimension to fight evil.

Boy's Dorm

Mitsuru Ikeda (Kowa wa Greenwood) The boy's dorm President and an all-around heartthrob for the girls on campus. The Eldest son and heir to the Kohryu Temple in Taito district, although he was adopted and his real parents are unknown. Has a brother 2 years younger than him. Rumored to have been affiliated with a gang in Jr. High.
rooms with Shinobu Tezuka (Kowa wa Greenwood) The favorite to become Student Body President, Shinobu is a cool-headed and intelligent boy who is as popular with the girls as Mitsuru. He loves to tease his friends, but when needed he has nerves of steel. Not one to get his hands dirty except when absolutely necessary, Shinobu is the type that always seems to come out on top in any situation.

Ryoga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2) The eternal lost boy has been sent to Muyami Academy because his parents, on a rare moment when all three were at home, realized that his education was suffering greatly. It's assumed that, at a boarding school, he might somehow be prevented from wandering off as often. Whether this proves to be the case or not has yet to be seen. Our Ryoga does not hate Ranma or blame him/her for his miserable life, because they settled their differences in a fight when they were younger (the one that, in the original manga, Ranma "ran away from" after waiting for three days). This Ryoga does not turn into a pig, and has not fallen in love with Akane. He does, however, have a fued with someone....
Ryoga is, first and foremost, honorable, or as much as he feels he can be. He is exceedingly shy around women. He is stronger and tougher than just about anyone alive. He has a horrible sense of direction, and is depressed nearly all of the time.

rooms with Keichi Morosato (Ah! Megamisama) Keichi's just a nice guy, a Senior who is in charge of the school's fledgling Auto Club, and who wants to go to Nekomi Institute of Technology next year.
Ukyo Kuonji (Ranma 1/2) Ukyo has been living as a guy since she was just a few years old, and it's all Ranma's fault, although Ranma doesn't realize it. For years she harbors a grudge against Ranma, but when she finds him, he's a she and she's pretending to be a he. Everyone now knows that the two are engaged, although not quite in the way Ukyo would have wanted it. Ukyo is a superb okonomiyaki chef, and sells food on campus when she can.
rooms with Shun Isigari (Kowa wa Greenwood) Shun's just another 10th grade boy who happens to look remarkably like a girl.
Tenchi Masaki (Tenchi Muyou) Tenchi transfered to Muyami Academy after Ryoko destroyed his old school on the first day of class. He is of Juraian blood, is a skilled swordsman, and has a habit for picking up fiancees, including (so far) Ayeka and Ryoko. He's Akane's cousin.
rooms with Ataru Morobishi (Ursei Yatsura) With the possible exception of Happosai, Ataru is the most lecherous being on the planet (there is no "Golden Boy" in this universe, and don't even ask about any x-rated anime characters). In fact, in this reality Happosai is more under control than Ataru. He has the absolute worst luck in the world, is a klutz, is socially inept in every way, but when it comes to grabbing or propositioning women, nothing can stop him. He avoids Lum as much as possible, but the truth is that he loves her in his own way. His goal, however, is to have a harem of beautiful girls, in which Lum is just one of many who worship him. As far as the rest... Ataru has very little else on his agenda.
Tatewaki Kuno (Ranma 1/2) The self-deluded samurai is in love with Akane and has transfered to Muyami Academy only to be close to his one true love. It's highly likely that an encounter with the pig-tailed goddess is in his future.
rooms with Katsuhito Jinnai (El hazard) A cackling madman with a touch of genius, Jinnai plans to become Student Body President, or at least, class president, as his first step to world dominion.
Makato Shizuhara (El Hazard) Makato is a nice boy who likes science and who will be set up to run against Jinnai for class president. He's never travelled to another dimension to fight evil... yet.
rooms with Kyousuke Kasuga (Kimagure Orange Road) A young boy who is trying to hide his modest psychic talents, Kyousuke has landed at the perfect school. With all of the aliens, devil hunters, goddesses and cyborgs running about, his parlour-tricks are not likely to even be noticed.
Hiroshi (Ranma 1/2) Just an average boy for background scenes.
rooms with Daisuke (Ranma 1/2) Another average boy for background scenes.
Hatta Kazuya (Kimagure Orange Road) A third somewhat perverted boy for background scenes.
rooms with Komatsu Seiji (Kimagure Orange Road) Hatta's accomplice, also somewhat of a pervert, a typical student for background scenes.

Revolutionary Girl Utena -- Birdy the Mighty -- Fushugi Yugi -- Magic Knights Rayearth
